Wet weekend and Futsal fun

We returned after the break today and what a difference a couple of weeks makes. The change from beautiful Autumnal sunshine to downpours of biblical proportions meant that our pitches looked more like swimming pools. Most of Sunday’s matches sadly had to be postponed.

The only match that started away had to be abandoned just before half time as the heavens suddenly opened and the pitch turned quickly from a playable surface into a duck pond. Our U13s players had to run for cover and will have to replay the match at another date as the referee called it off for safety reasons.

The only age group that got to play football this weekend was our U10s, who played at the MYSFL Futsal tournament at the K2 in Crawley.

The tournament was well organised and a lot of fun for the kids. The U10s played amazingly well and walked away with two wins, two draws and two losses. It was great to see so many teams from the Mid-Sussex league all in one venue and to see friendships and great sportsmanship between clubs.

Thank you to the organisers and the match officials for their hard work today. We’re looking forward to the next round for the U10s and the other age groups as all our players have really enjoyed taking part in some Futsal.

Hopefully we’ll get back to playing some outdoor football next week. Let’s hope it stops raining and the pitches start draining!
