U9s end of season Kids vs adults match

It was an absolutely beautiful day for a fun end of season training session followed by a kids vs parents match and penalty shootout on Saturday.

It goes without saying that the kids won! But only just. The parents gave it a good go and were narrowly defeated with a score of 2-1 in the match. The kids then won the penalty shootout by one goal in a tense decider!

The most important thing was that everyone had fun and the kids loved seeing their parents on the pitch and then in goal as they tried to save their own kid’s penalty shot.

After the match the U9s coaches, Sam and Dave, were awarded with ‘Players’ Manager’ trophies by the kids and parents as a big thank you for all their hard work and commitment over the season. It was a dead heat in the voting so they both got a trophy!

All Chailey and Newick Colts coaches are volunteers who give up several hours a week to take training sessions and lead their teams at matches, often having to referee as well as coach. During the week they spend time planning to make sure training runs smoothly and ensuring everyone knows where and when the next match is being held.

They really are all very committed to the club and to helping kids get to play regular football and have fun learning new skills. Without them there wouldn’t be a club so they all deserve a huge thank you.

The U9s still have a few friendlies and some tournaments left to play before a short break and then the new season starts. Watch this space for news of tournaments over the summer.
