Play Safe Weekend: Saturday 30th September - Sunday 1st October
Chailey and Newick Colts football club is always committed to the safety and wellbeing of our players. We have strict safeguarding policies in place and always follow FA guidelines on keeping our players safe and well.
As a club we have pledged our commitment to The Football Association to support its Play Safe weekend taking place on Saturday 30th September - Sunday 1st October.
Over this weekend English football at every level will unite to promote a national Play Safe campaign to focus attention on the vital importance of safeguarding in our national game.
Led by The FA, the Play Safe campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and supported by every level of the game, including the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship, and right across the grassroots game.
This year’s Play Safe weekend has two main messages:
‘Everyone, everywhere, every time’ should have an understanding of safeguarding in football
Everyone should ‘watch, listen, talk and act’ if they have any safeguarding concerns.
As safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility we ask that parents and supporters join us by keeping your eyes and ears open and contacting the relevant person if you have any concerns at all about the safety or wellbeing of a child.
If you have a safeguarding concern, or would like some advice, the person to contact at Chailey and Newick Colts is our welfare office, Mark Preston. You can contact Mark on Mark.Preston645@outlook.com or 07402 148683.
You can also speak to your child’s coach or any other club official at any time to ask for help or guidance.
Other resources available for support, independent from the club include:
Sussex County FA Safeguarding Team - safeguarding@SussexFA.com | 01903 768578
NSPCC Helpline - 0800 023 2642
Childline - 0800 1111
If a child is at risk of immediate harm please contact the Police on 999 in an emergency, or 101 if the situation is less urgent.
Chailey and Newick Colts chair person, Steve Allan, said: “Chailey and Newick Colts are pleased to support the Play Safe initiative. Our vision is to become the best kids football club in Mid-Sussex and a huge part of delivering that is determined by the environment we create for the young people and the parents/carers involved with our Club.
“As I say every year at our End of Season awards evening, ‘The Club’ is not just the committee members but it is everyone connected with the Club and that sentiment runs through the safeguarding initiatives such as this. Everyone should play their part in keeping our young footballers safe. Please take the time to listen to the key messages and help the Colts on our journey together.”
We ask that you watch the Play Safe video and consider taking the free online FA course on safeguarding for parents/carers, which you’ll find here.
We are proud to be supporting Play Safe and we ask that you join us. Together, let’s create an ever-safer culture across the game we all love.
