We have reached the end of yet another season of football. After 35 weeks and 155 matches, we’re now looking forward to our annual awards night tonight at Newick Village Hall.
Our awards are a celebration of all our players and their achievements throughout the season. It is the one night of the year when the whole Colts community comes together and it is always emotional. Every player gets to come up on stage to receive their medals and trophies - and get the recognition they all deserve for their hard work and commitment over the season.
Tonight will also be a celebration of making it to the end of what has felt like a long, wet winter with many fixtures having to be postponed and rescheduled due to unplayable pitches. It’s an evening when we can also thank all our volunteers, coaches and committee members who make this all possible.
A lot of admin happens behind the scenes, including player registrations, league communications, welfare and safeguarding, disciplinary matters, fund raising, pitch maintenance, and so on. This year as a club we are proud to have maintained our England Football accreditation as we continue to provide high-quality football environments for all players.
We have also been working with Chailey School on a proposal to build a new 3G pitch at the school. If the proposal goes ahead the pitch would provide invaluable facilities for us and enable us to continue training and playing matches even at the wettest times of the year.
We continue to be committed to our community values and we’re very much looking forward to our first ever festival of football at Newick in July. We will be hosting a small friendly tournament for U10s, U11s and U12s on Sunday 5th July … more information to follow soon but it will be a family day of football with a BBQ, ice creams and hopefully sunshine!
We are always on the look out for sponsors to help fund kit and equipment so if you know of any local businesses who would like to get their name out here by putting a logo on one of kits please get in touch.
And finally, one last piece of admin … we will be AGM on Wednesday 24th June at our clubhouse at Chailey Sportsground - everyone is welcome!
Hopefully we’ll see lots of you this evening for the awards!
