Lest we forget: Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance Day commemorates all British and Commonwealth service members who have died in conflicts worldwide since the First World War. Each year, on this day (11th November) we commemorate Remembrance Day. At the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, the fighting on the Western Front stopped as the armistice came into effect.

On Remembrance Sunday, we pause as a nation to honour the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. We remember all those whose courage in the face of unimaginable hardship shaped the world we live in today.

Yesterday, on Remembrance Sunday, we held a minute’s silence before all matches. It was lovely to see our young players showing their respect and honouring the fallen.
