We’re delighted to share that we have received not one, but two Mid Sussex Youth Football League Respect Awards for the 2024/25 season.
Our U8s and U13s were both recognised at the league’s AGM on Friday, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievement. For our U8s, it marks an incredible start to their football journey in their very first year playing league football. And for our U13s, this is the second time they have received this award — a testament to their continued commitment to the values we hold as a club.
Our U13s manager, Jon Tivey, said: “I am so incredibly pleased for everyone associated with the U13s. It’s a huge honour to have been recognised for the Respect Award, a reflection of how the team has upheld the values of our wonderful club and grass roots football throughout the season.”
What makes the Respect Award so special is that it is decided by opposition teams and referees — the people who see how our players, coaches and supporters behave on the pitch and on the sidelines. It doesn’t reflect how well we play, but how we play. For us, that’s what football is all about.
At Chailey and Newick Colts, we believe that being respectful, playing fair, and showing good sportsmanship matter just as much — if not more — than the final score. These awards are a brilliant reminder that when we lead with integrity, we’re developing more than football skills — we’re helping shape good people.
With seven of our teams competing in the MSYFL last season, we’re incredibly proud that two of them were recognised in this way. A big well done to all the players, coaches and parents involved, and thank you to the Mid Sussex Youth Football League for its continued support.
We’re already looking forward to next season — and seeing what we can achieve.
